Man Nabbed In Stamford After Alleged Stop & Shop Robbery In Norwalk

A 36-year-old man was apprehended in Stamford after police say he robbed Stop & Shop in Norwalk on Thursday night.

Norwalk Patrol Division Officers responded to the reported robbery at the Stop & Shop located at 385 Connecticut Ave. at around 8:40 p.m. Nov. 29.

The caller stated that the suspect stated he was in possession of a firearm, while demanding money, according to police. The clerk said no at which time the suspect fled the store with a stolen pack of cigarettes, according to police.

Arriving officers scoured the area, but the suspect was not located.

However, a witness was able to identify the suspect as Shawn Oliphant.

Norwalk detectives assumed the investigation and quickly confirmed Oliphant was, in fact, the suspect. 

Detectives determined that Oliphant was at a location in Stamford. With the assistance of the Stamford Police Department, detectives located Oliphant and took him into custody without incident.

He has been charged with first-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny and sixth-degree larceny. He was also charged with the violation of a protective order for a separate incident. Bond was set at $100,000.
